Three textile dyeing units allegedly operating without a licence and found discharging untreated effluents have been demolished by the Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board officials.

Acting on a complaint, a team of TNPCB officials had yesterday visited Choolai area here. On ascertaining that the units had no licence, they disconnected the power supply and demolished the factories with the help of earth movers, officials said today.

Before the demolition started, important machineries were removed by the owners. Since May 2010, about 237 unauthorised textile factories had been demolished, they said.
