The Chief Minister, Mr Oommen Chandy, has convened a meeting on Thursday to review the progress of the Unique Identification Authority of India’s (Uidai) Aadhaar project in the State.
Representatives of various departments of the State government will apprise the Chief Minister of the progress of the project.
Department of IT is the registrar for purposes of implementation of the project in the state and Kerala State IT Mission, the nodal agency.
Akshaya e-governance project, Kerala State Electronics Development Corporation (Keltron) and IT@School are the designated Aadhaar enrolling agencies in the State.
While Akshaya looks after the enrolments in villages, Keltron does the same in the urban areas and IT@School takes care of school-going students.
To help with collection and processing of data, the Akshaya centres have deployed 720 machines and Keltron 350 machines throughout the State.
An estimated 91.16 lakh persons have been enrolled as on date, of which 69.37 lakh have been issued Aadhaar cards.
