Thiruvananthapuram, Aug. 5:
The State government has decided to begin preparatory work for acquisition of land for the proposed ‘mobility hub’ at Kodimatha in Kottayam.
The decision was taken at meeting of the governing body of the Kodimatha Mobility Hub Society convened here by Chief Minister Oommen Chandy.
The project is proposed to be implemented over 250 acres of land in the Nattakom and Panchikkad panchayats and aims to improve public transport facilities and prevent traffic congestion.
Railway-road-water transport facilities would be toned up and ancillary facilities such as parking areas and recreational centres rolled out as part of the project.

Comments:
in many projects, the delays are mostly for the aquisitions of the required land and connected disputes regarding valuations and draggig to litigations. It would be a very bad decision if the authorities aquire the land 10% more than what is required for the project and give it back to the aquirees at 10% of what was aquired from them. This will be a very welcome move as it would consider the sentimental valuations of the land owners and might even ease the aquiring process....suresh, kodimatha, kottayam
