West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra will meet with representatives of Kolkata’s auto drivers’ unions on Tuesday to discuss how to end the menace of rash driving in the city. The minister said he would also decide on methods of counselling for the auto drivers in the meeting to be held at the Writers’ Building.

Mitra announced this on Monday after a rash driving case by an auto near Sinthee area in North Kolkata was registered with the police. A four-year-old child, Adrika Ghosal, fell off a speeding auto and was seriously injured with multiple fractures.

“I will ask the auto drivers to stop flouting traffic rules. We will also make sure that the Police take strict action whenever a case of rash driving or violation of traffic is registered,” Mitra said.
