Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has set new deadline for collection of consumer subscriber forms by multi-system operators (MSOs) and entry of those details in their subscriber management system.

While MSOs in Mumbai need to do the same by August 2, Kolkata’s deadline has been set at August 23. Meanwhile, all forms of digital subscribers in the 38 cities that come under phase 2 of digitisation need to update their subscriber databases by September 20.

In a statement the broadcast and telecom regulator said, “ In order to ensure that full benefits are extended to all the stakeholders, it is essential that complete details of the subscribers including their choice of channels are available in the subscriber management system.” MSOs can transmit digital signals and activate the set-top box only after receiving consumer application form from their consumers, as per the Digital Addressable Cable TV regulations.
