Thiruvananthapuram, Nov. 27:
Urban Affairs Minister Manjalamkuzhi Ali has handed over draft master plan for Thiruvananthapuram City Corporation. Among other things, the draft has proposed setting up of seven new parks and two new townships and shifting of the central jail, Regional Cancer Centre and the Sree Chithra Institute for Medical Science and Research to the suburbs. This will free up space for development of the Medical College Hospital.
Regulated development of ‘core city’, redevelopment of ‘central city’, intensive development of the ‘outer city’ and conservative development of the ‘city periphery’ are other highlights.
Ten per cent of the total available land in the city would need to be set apart for the economically weaker sections of society.
