The State Government proposes to seek more funds for the Kuttanad Package. Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said here that 75 per cent of the revised estimate would be sought from the Centre.

Projects proposed under the package is estimated to cost more than double the original outlay of Rs 1,840 crore. The tendering of the first phase of work on the Alappuzhza-Changanassery canal would be completed in a month, Chandy said.

The work was to be completed in a year. The Chief Minister directed the Alappuzha collector to complete acquisition of land for the second phase of the package within six months on fast-track basis.

The work was to be tendered in six months.
