To give a push to tourism in Punjab and create a pool of skilled manpower for the sector, the government is planning to start various knowledge-based programmes for the youth of the state.

The initiative, among other such policies, aim at meeting the growing demand of competent workforce in the hospitality sector, Tourism and Cultural Affairs Minister Sarwan Singh Phillaur said here.

He further said in recognition to the state’s achievements in the sector, the Centre has conferred the National Award for Excellence in Hospitality Education for 2011-12 to the Chandigarh College of Hotel Management in Mohali.
