Expressing concern over conventional farm products losing their sheen among consumers, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa said her Government will launch an awareness campaign to popularise them among people.
Products such as tender coconut, ‘shikakai’ and cotton are an integral part of Tamil culture, but had been replaced by modern products in the respective segments and this was “regrettable”, she said.
Making a statement in the Assembly, she said the awareness drive throughout the state would highlight medicinal and other values of these products, as well as benefits farmers involved in their production would get.
Seminars, awareness rallies, catchy slogans and jingles, among others, would be part of the campaign. The media, including theatres and dailies, would be used to promote the products, she said, adding, a sum of Rs 10 crore will be allotted for this purpose.

Comments:
But, The CM must announce how these products can sell to the vendors. It is not like rice or sugercane where we have the mills near by. To sell shikakai, cotton, or even tender coconut, we need required vendors.
FYI - I am a farmer.
