The conciliation effort made by the Central Chief Labour Commissioner to avert the all-India bank strike scheduled for February 10-11 has failed, and the United Forum of Bank Unions has decided to go ahead with the strike.

The talks between the UFBU and the Indian Banks’ Association over a five-year wage revision package, held in New Delhi on Thursday, failed because the bank managements had nothing new to offer, MV Murali, convenor of the UFBU, told Business Line .

The CLC had suggested to the IBA to advance the next round of bilateral talks scheduled for February 13 to a date prior to the strike, but the IBA functionaries were not willing.
