Salman Khan’s Eid release Tubelight seems to hitting the right note even ahead of its release. The film, which releases this Friday, has reportedly earned over ₹175 crore by selling its theatrical rights, music right, overseas distribution rights besides a host of brand association.

Directed by Kabir Khan, the film is a period drama set in the backdrop of 1962 Indo-Sino war. Besides Bollywood actor Khan, Chinese actress Zhu Zhu will be making her big screen debut in the film.

For starters, NH Studioz has bought the all-India theatrical distribution rights for the film. The company reportedly outbid other distributors to bid at over ₹100 crore.

Industry insiders said Sony Music too has reportedly pumped in ₹20 crore for music rights. While a Chinese company has bought rights for release in China for close to ₹75 crore. Sony Music was unavailable for a comment.

NH Studioz declined to put a number to its investment for the right of the film. It had previously distributed Pink, Shivaay and Dear Zindagi among others.

NH Studioz Director Shreyans Hirawat told BusinessLine : “We expect the film to do well. As a content driven company, our aim is to look for quality films. Tubelight ’s trailer has been viewed more than 10 million times on YouTube ”. He said the company is yet to decide the number of screens which will be playing the film. Yash Raj Films has bagged the overseas distribution rights. Avtar Panesar, VP, International Operations, Yash Raj Films, said: “Salman Khan is arguably the biggest Box Office draw today and growing with each film. With him and Kabir Khan reuniting for the third time, it makes Tubelight a very special and hugely anticipated film with a great deal of excitement both within the business and the audiences alike.”

The film is set to release across 1200 screens in China itself.

Kabir Khan-Salman Khan duo has previously produced hits like Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Ek Tha Tiger with box collection standing at ₹320 crore and ₹198 crore respectively.

Meanwhile, brands such as Cox and King and Paytm are too going all out to promote the film.

Cox & Kings which has partnered with the film to launch ‘Pose Karo, Tubelight se Milo’ contest. The lucky winners stand a chance to live their fan moment of meeting Salman Khan.

Yusuf Poonawala, SVP, Bharat Deko, Cox & Kings said: “The film will transport you to picturesque and scenic locations where the movie was shot, and by booking our package you get an opportunity to meet Salman Khan. As a part of our celebrations we have launched exclusive Bharat Deko packages called Tubelight tours to destinations such as Manali, Ladakh, Shimla, and Amritsar, where the movie was filmed.”

Paytm Movies has also joined in as the official ticketing partner for the film. The company has launched advance bookings across India.
