When it comes to the movie ‘The Jungle Book’, Indian audience seems to be hooked on to regional version of top grossing Hollywood film.

The movie which has crossed Rs 107.33 crore during the first eleven days of its launch, is the highest any Hollywood movie has done in 2016.

Interestingly, the regional versions including Hindi, Tamil and Telugu of the film alone accounts for about 54 per cent of the gross collection while the balance 46 per cent is accounted by the English version.

Amrita Pandey, VP - Studios, Disney India said, “The Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions have been so appreciated and that is very special for us. The Jungle Book is a legacy and we are humbled that families across India have contributed to taking this legacy forward and embracing Mowgli's latest adventure with such affection”.

The 3D adventure fantasy film The Jungle Book, which made its way onto the screens in India on April 8, a week ahead of its release in the US, brings a story straight from the enchanting forest of India and presents a modern take on Rudyard Kipling’s timeless classic, originally published in 1894.

The Jon Favreau film was released in four different languages.

Bollywood stars likes Irrfan Khan, Priyanka Chopra, Nana Patekar, Shefali Shah and Om Puri have lent their voice for the Hindi version of The Jungle Book.

Interestingly, for popular jingle by Gulzar ‘Jungle, Jungle Baat Chali Hai’, too was reworked for the Hindi version of the film. Noted lyricist Gulzar had penned the popular jingle for Doordarshan in the 90s who had aired the Jungle Book: The Adventures of Mowgli.

The film was released in 1,500 screens across the country.

Industry watchers note that jungle Book is likely to break the record of Fast and Furious 7 (Rs 105 crore) and also Bollywood film Airlift (Rs 128 crore) released earlier this year.
