ICICIdirect Centre for Financial Learning (ICFL) has recently launched StockMIND Season 3 - a virtual stock market competition for college students. StockMIND is aimed at demystifying investments in equity and promote investment habits among the youth in India.

Since its launch in 2012, over 1.1 lakh students from more than 800 colleges across varied disciplines like engineering, management, commerce and science have participated in the competition.

This season of the competition has already seen registrations from over 400 colleges across India. This includes over 150 graduate colleges and over 250 post graduate colleges. This year, students from various premier institutes like IIMs, IITs, and Xavier’s are also participating in the event.

“ICFL strives to provide easy access to quality financial education across India through innovative means. For us, StockMIND is an important endeavour to build the necessary skills required to invest in the equity market," Neeraj Joshi, Head – ICFL, ICICI Securities, said in a press statement.

"We are excited to see the enthusiasm of participants both from graduate and post graduate colleges and look forward to reach out to new colleges across the country.”

ICFL will reach out to thousands of students through several leading colleges in India. The entire competition will be played with virtual money on a proprietary platform developed by ICFL called Virtual Stocks. Each participant will get Rs 15 lakh of virtual money and can invest without the risk of losing any real money through Virtual Stocks.

Winner from every college will participate in the national round and the winner of national round will bag the grand prize of Rs 1 lakh. The first runner-up and second runner-up winners would receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and Rs 25,000, respectively. Scholarships and other exciting prizes are also planned.

StockMIND will be held into stages - post graduate students will participate in StockMIND, and the graduate students will participate in StockMIND grads.
