July 11: The Reserve Bank of India authorises banks to create a fund of Rs 798 crore for the sugar industry, which would have to be used exclusively for payment of cane arrears to farmers. Mr Rajender Mohan Malla takes over as Chairman & Managing Director of Small Industries Development Bank of India. July 17: The Reserve Bank of India allows Urban Co-operative Banks to act as agents or sub-agents under money transfer service schemes. July 20: The country’s forex kitty swells by an additional $4.12 billion during the week ended July 13, 2007, taking the total reserves to $218.956 billion. July 31: The Reserve Bank of India hikes the Cash Reserve Ratio by 0.5 percentage points to 7 per cent.
