Six years after its split from partner Honda, Hero Motocorp has announced its first new offering that has been completely designed and developed in-house.

The new Splendor iSmart 110 features a totally new chassis and frame, and is powered by a new 110cc engine that features Hero’s patented i3S technology. According to a company release, it is the only engine in the segment that complies with Bharat Stage IV emission norms.

Fuell efficient engine

The air-cooled, single cylinder, 4-stroke mill produces a maximum power output of 9.4 PS @ 7500 rpm and maximum torque of 9 Nm @ 5500 rpm.

It is capable of pushing the bike from standstill to 60 kmph in 7.45 seconds. Hero’s i3S (Idle-stop-start system), detects whether the engine is idling and automatically turns off the ignition whenever the gear is slotted into neutral for more than a few seconds. Pressing the clutch again, brings the engine back to life. This technology ensures improved fuel efficiency in stop-start urban traffic.

New chassis

The motorcycle rides on a new frame that offers improved durability and enhanced agility. The synchronized suspension system provides better torsional rigidity and strength enuring safer cornering and high speed stability. The new double cradle design of the bike allows improved chassis-tyre-suspension sync and better front-rear balance with no twitching.

Feature-packed

The new Splendor offers a variety of new features including an elongated seat, Automatic Headlamp On (AHO) and a new speedometer with a combination of analog and digital meters as well as a service due indicator.

It also picks up a number of styling changes including new graphics, dual tone mirrors and redesigned fenders and cowl. The new tail light and muffler with chrome tip give the bike a sleek look from the rear.

The bike is now available across India, at a price of INR 53,300 (Ex-showroom Delhi) and is being offered in four color schemes – Silver & Black, Red & Black, Blue & Black and Sports Red.
