Nubia N1: Selfies all day?

This ZTE phone has two things going for it — a 5,000mAh battery and a 13MP front camera.

Presuming that you want to shoot your own pictures in higher resolutions, you can spend many hours doing just that without worrying about the battery.

Otherwise, it lasts the day on intensive use and two with moderate use. In most other aspects, the Nubia N1 is an ordinary phone, looking like many others do and sporting a budget Mediatek Helio processor.

It has an uncluttered interface and costs ₹11,999, but faces stiff competition.

Mi Max: King sized

The Mi Max and its cousin Mi Max Prime have a 4,850mAh battery. But the phone is big. At 6.4 inches, it’s more like an extra portable tablet. It’s not easy to hold, but those who use it seem to become quite accustomed to it and enjoy using it.

Rather than the right smartphone with which to make endless calls, it’s more appropriate for video, movies, gaming, reading, and browsing. The battery performs very well and with moderate use lasts two days; with light use, much more. It also charges rather quickly. The Mi Max costs ₹14,999.

Samsung Galaxy A9 pro

This one is designed just like a flagship. Not unlike the Note 5, in fact. It’s rather big and heavy at six inches, but is nevertheless beautiful. If you can get your fingers around it, a prettier big-battery phone you will not find. Unlike many other phones that focus on the battery, the A9 Pro doesn’t give battery life while taking away just about everything else.

It’s got everything that users like about Samsung phones — their feature-filled interface, a good camera, and a great display. If only the sound from its single speaker had been stronger, this large device would have been great for movies. The 5,000mAh battery lasts for more than a day even with heavy use such as 4G, gaming, video playback and recording and lasts for two days with average use. The adaptive fast charging support lets you charge the battery in two hours. But at ₹32,490 the A9 Pro is also one of the most expensive battery specialists.

Gionee- M5 Plus

Gionee’s Marathon series is all about big battery phones and the M5 was the first smartphone to sport a colossal 6,020mAh battery, probably the largest maxi ever. Interestingly, that disappeared from the market, and one wonders why.

Launched in 2015, the M5 Plus has a 5,020 mAh battery and runs on Android 5.1. It has pretty decent cameras. One of the main problems is that the phone heats up while gaming and streaming videos.

The battery lasts for more than a day with heavy usage and will last around two days with normal use. The six inch screen makes it a bit difficult for one-handed use. For ₹19,999, it is a little expensive as cheaper phones with better software and batteries are available in the market.

Asus Zenfone Max

Priced at ₹9,999, this one has the distinction of being an affordably priced phone in the big battery segment. The phone sports a 5,000mAh battery. An interesting side effect of its large battery is its reverse charging feature. You can charge other phones with the Zenfone Max using the USB OTG cable.

Even with intensive usage, the battery lasts up to two days and with average use, it lasts more than three. The phone lacks support for fast charging so it takes several hours to charge.

It poses only a 720p screen and has only 2GB of RAM, while other phones in this price segment have better features.
