The Namakkal-based All India Poultry Products Exporters Association (AIPPEA) has welcomed the Centre's notification declaring India as avian flu-free country. The AIPPEA officials expressed the confidence that based on the Ministry notification, the Organisation of Internationale Epidemia (OIE) would accord necessary clearance for India as the avian flu free country by carrying the country so in its official records and its website over the next two days.

Mr Valsan, Secretary of the AIPPEA, said the Centre's notification would pave way for restoration of table egg exports to the West Asia, which now stand banned since February last. "The egg price in the local market is expected to surge and the price uprise could be felt from Monday onwards. We feel the farm-gate price will go up by another 10-15 paise as we have already begun to feel the improved price sentiment," he said adding, in the near-term, a daily export volume of 40 lakh eggs to be shipped out of Namakkal would suck out the excess supplies from the market, thereby, stabilising the prices once the ban on egg imports from India imposed by Dubai, Doha and Muscut is lifted over the next few days.
