FOLLOWING a firm trend in the international market, all major non-ferrous metal producers including Nalco, Hindustan Zinc, Sterlite, Birla Copper and Hindustan Copper have increased the prices of their metal products from Thursday, trade sources said.

Major copper producers, including Hindustan Copper Ltd, Sterlite and Birla Copper Ltd, have increased the prices by Rs 9,600 to 1,96,849 a tonne (Rs 1,87,234) of copper cathode (full) and Rs 2,01,855 a tonne (Rs 1,92,228) for CC rod category.

National Aluminium Co has also increased sale prices by Rs 1,400 to 1,02,700 a tonne for aluminium ingot and by Rs 1,650 to 1,04,550 a tonne for aluminium wire rod.

Hindustan Zinc has raised its prices by Rs 7,100 a tonne for zinc products and Rs 2,600 a tonne for lead metal.

The company has increased prices to Rs 75,100 a tonne (Rs 68,000) for special high grade (SHG) zinc and Rs 74,900 per tonne (Rs 67,800) for high grade (HG) zinc.

In lead metal category, the company has increased to Rs 49,300 a tonne (Rs 46,700) for the current month.

The Bombay Metals Exchange (BME) has also revised its benchmark price of copper wire bar upward by Rs 9,640 to Rs 2,07,611 a tonne (Rs 1,97,971) in line with the firm LME trend.
