Sisira Automobiles, the Kerala-based bus body builders, has launched luxury coaches conforming to Euro III standards, as part of the company's efforts to introduce solely driver-operated automated buses on Indian roads.

The series has an array of innovative features including AC operated directly from the main engine doing away with the need for a separate unit, reverse camera, GPRS navigation, electronically adjustable rear view mirrors, high-quality leather upholstery, pushback seats and automatic hydraulic doors.

The 49-seater buses have imported wheel discs and tubeless radial tyres from Michelin, Mr S. Sura, Managing Director, said, adding the tyres guarantee 1.50-lakh-km of trouble-free mileage as against 30,000 km offered by conventional tyres.

He said the whole idea was to introduce world-class coaches operated single-handedly by the driver, thereby, reducing onboard manpower requirement in the operation of luxury coaches.

“This also means a substantial reduction in operational costs,” he added. The company has received an encouraging response from leading tour and travel operators.

The over 10-year-old company has embarked on a major diversification aimed at bringing out hi-tech outdoor broadcasting (OB) vans and mobile medical units.

The company, which has got ISO certification, has based its production facilities at Neeleswaram near Kalady in Ernakulam district.

The company's coaches are being widely used by tour operators, educational institutions, hospitals, export firms, TV channels and Government companies
