Welspun Syntex Ltd has become the first textile company in India to adopt new standards in carbon foot-printing partnering with Gensol Consultants Pvt Ltd, a leading energy solutions provider.

GreenKarma, the consultancy division of Gensol, conducted the assessment for Welspun Syntex Ltd, part of the $3 billion Welspun Group, to facilitate ISO 14064 Greenhouse Certification.

It was also a first for the Bureau Veritas Certification India Pvt. Ltd, a leading ISO auditors of the country, which verified the Greenhouse Gas Assertion for Welspun Syntex Ltd for April 1, 2008-March 31, 2009, according to a release here on Monday.

Initiative for carbon foot-printing and Greenhouse Gas Verification of Welspun Syntex Ltd was undertaken as part of Welspun Group's sustainable initiatives. GreenKarma completed GHG assessment inclusive of a complex Scope-III emission for WSL's plants at Silvassa and Palghar.

With this certification, Welspun Syntex Ltd becomes the first textile company in India to receive this accreditation.
