Bangalore, Jan. 5
IN one of the biggest order in recent times, ABB India has bagged a turnkey order worth Rs 430 crore to provide an enterprise wide Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system for ONGC's production and drilling facilities.
The SCADA system will enable ONGC to integrate its basins, plants, forward base and other assets to the corporate data centre, facilitating `anytime-anywhere' access to data and real-time performance management.
This initiative will improve performance and efficiency of ONGC's geographically dispersed production and drilling facilities, both onshore and offshore.
The turnkey project, scheduled to be completed by the end of 2007, encompasses site survey, system design, engineering, supply, installation and commissioning of an integrated three-tier SCADA system and is inclusive of a six-year post-warranty Annual Maintenance services contract, said an ABB release.
Some of the benefits of systems include reduction in time, effort and cost of integration, enhanced reliability and scalability, monitoring and control of assets across locations and improved efficiency in operations.
"The oil and gas industry spans a long process chain, from exploration and drilling to consumer delivery, making it critical for companies to plan, manage and optimise their assets. ABB's integrated automation solution will enable ONGC to monitor, control and manage vital data across locations and enable faster decision-making. It will also help speed up emergency response and deliver enhanced efficiency, energy savings, quality and productivity improvements," said Mr Ravi Uppal, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director, ABB India.
"We are indeed, proud to be associated with ONGC and remain committed to facilitating greater efficiency and productivity through our cutting-edge technologies and domain expertise, thereby enhancing customer competitiveness," said Mr Dinesh Paliwal, President Global Markets & Technology, ABB Group.
