In a move, which would allow the company to better cater to demand in the premium colour television market, Samsung India on Wednesday announced the commencement of domestic production of its patented `SlimFit' TV in India.

The 21" SlimFit TM television, would be manufactured at the company's 1.5 million capacity, CTV manufacturing facility at Noida. With the addition of the 21" SlimFit TM CTV, Samsung will now offer its SlimFit TM television range in 21", 29" and 32" screen sizes. "We expect the 21" segment to be the volume driver in the SlimFit TM category and are expecting to sell over one lakh SlimFitTM TVs in the country," Mr R. Zutshi, Deputy Managing Director, Samsung India said. "Based on new launches from manufacturers like us, we are expecting the SlimFit TM category contribution to grow to around 10-12 per cent of the total flat TV market in India," Mr Zutshi said. The Samsung SlimFit TVs are priced in the range between Rs 11,990 and Rs 69,990.
