Tantia Constructions Ltd (TCL), the Kolkata-based infrastructure construction company specialising in railway infrastructure is upbeat on business prospects in the Rail sector.

The company expects the railway infrastructure to receive a big boost with the commissioning of passenger and freight corridor between the four metros.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, the TCL Chairman and Managing Director, Mr I.P. Tantia, said the Railway Ministry plans to launch an ambitious Rs 625.6-billion rail freight corridor project, work on which is expected to start in June this year.

The company is pre-qualified for projects up to Rs 200 crore and in joint venture with TSO, a French company, for projects up to Rs 450 crore. The company is targeting procurement of Rs 807.27 crore of works in the Rail Road segment by FY 2009.

Apart from its strengths in railway infrastructure, the company has simultaneously developed core strength in roads and urban development as well, Mr Tantia said.
