Mumbai, June 22
NOBLE Fiber Technologies of the US and the Kalani Group of Industries have tied up to bring X-static, a silver-coated fibre that enhances anti-odour, anti-static and thermodynamic properties of fabrics, into the country.
The partnership confers sole rights for institutional sales with the Indian firm.
The silver layer retains traditional textile and tactile characteristics. According to Mr Joel Furey, Partner, Noble Fiber Technologies, "X-static's heat transfer properties are of particular significance to India, given the different weather conditions prevailing at any given time. X-static is also useful in eliminating odour-causing bacteria and athletes' foot fungus. It eliminates 99.9 per cent of bacteria in less than one hour of exposure and is more effective in hotter and wetter environments."
There are no chemicals involved and the product's performance does not diminish over time. Leading manufacturers of hosiery, apparel, footwear and home goods feature the X-static technology in a variety of high performance athletic and fashion products. It has licensed its silver-coated fibres under the X-static brand to more than 300 manufacturers including leading apparel labels Marks & Spencer, Adidas, Umbro, Puma, Spyder and also to Johnson & Johnson for antimicrobial bandages.
Speaking on the partnership, Mr Saurabh Kalani, Joint Managing Director, Kalani Group of Industries, said, "This partnership envisages a great future for this wonder product given the immense possibilities the technology holds." It will promote X-static across the Asia-Pacific region by importing, warehousing and distributing the same as required. The company has a significant presence in the SEZ (Special Economic Zone) where it can import and warehouse products duty-free.
Mr Furey is currently in India along with Mr Satish Chandra, Vice-President (New Technology & New Business) and Mr N.S. Prasad, Country Manager, India & S-E Asia Operations of Noble Fiber. They will identify Indian companies that can incorporate X-static technology into their existing products.
Commenting on their decision to choose India as its launch base, Mr Furey said, "It was a tough decision for the company to choose the right country in South-East Asia as its launching pad. We chose India over China due to the highly skilled manpower available in India, ease of understanding and working in an English speaking environment."
