MUMBAI: Colgate-Palmolive (India) Ltd reported a 15 per cent rise in second quarter net profit at Rs 30.9 crore against Rs 26.97 crore in the year-ago period.

Total revenue for the quarter was Rs 283.25 crore, as compared to Rs 251.11 crore in the year-ago period.

Volumes from continuing businesses grew by 9 per cent. The growth was driven by toothpaste category.

Advertising and sales promotion spend during the quarter increased by 46 per cent to Rs 51.6 crore (Rs 35.3 crore). The new toothpaste plant at Baddi, Himachal Pradesh is in the process of ramp-up.

During the first half period the company's net profit increased by 12 per cent to Rs 58.9 crore, while revenues grew by 10 per cent to Rs 536.4 crore.

Shares of Colgate moved down by Rs 2.50 to Rs 231.90.
