NEW DELHI: Ballarpur Industries Ltd (BILT) has registered revenues of Rs 490.47 crore for the first quarter ended September 30, 2005, a 2.69 per cent increase over last year's Rs 477.6 crore.

Net profit for the three-month period stood at Rs 44.2 crore, a 10.22 per cent increase over the previous year's Rs 40.1 crore.

The revenues from paper increased 6.08 per cent to Rs 422.95 crore (Rs 398.71 crore).

According to a company statement, "The current quarter's results reflect a firm demand for paper. The continuing positive macroeconomic trends and the rollout of our capacity expansion plan reinforce our belief of an optimistic outlook in the coming quarters." The company's shares closed at Rs 100.10 on the BSE on Friday, a dip of 5.16 per cent.
