BHUBANESWAR: The National Aluminium Co Ltd (Nalco) has signed an agreement with the National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) for the sharing of rights over the Nickel Technology Proving Plant (Ni-TPP).

The agreement was signed by Mr C.R. Pradhan, Chairman-cum-Managing Director of Nalco, and Mr P.S. Upadhya, Director (Technical) of NMDC, in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Nalco and NMDC will share the nickel and efforts are on, through the CSIR (Council for Scientific and Industrial Research), to obtain intellectual property rights (IPR) in favour of Nalco, CSIR and NMDC.

Nickel, a strategically important metal, is available in the country only through the Sukinda Chromite Mines. Nalco and NMDC will explore the possibility of setting up a plant for nickel production.
