VISAKHAPATNAM: The Visakhapatnam steel plant has bagged the national energy conservation award, instituted by the Union Ministry of Power, for the fifth time in succession.

It was presented to the Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Y. Sivasagara Rao, in New Delhi by the President, Mr A.P.J Abdul Kalam, at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday. According to a press release, the VSP has reduced energy consumption by over 21 per cent during the past five years and it has saved Rs 350 crore.
