BLUE Dart Express Ltd has nominated Mr Malcolm Monteiro, Chief Operating Officer, to succeed Mr Clyde Cooper as Managing Director with effect from March 13, 2006.

Mr Cooper will remain a director of the company after March 13.

According to an official statement, Mr Monteiro, a graduate of IIT-Mumbai and an alumni of IIM-Ahmedabad, will focus on growing the business, ensuring high customer service standards, and continuing business as usual.

A founding member of Blue Dart who was instrumental in building the organisation over the past 22 years, Mr Cooper will relinquish his position due to family commitments.

The statement quoting Mr Cooper said, "I believe the time is right to hand over the reins of the company to Malcolm, who has, for over 16 years, handled various functions within the company, including customer service, operations, information technology and human resource, and expertise in the domestic express domain.

Malcolm will be supported by a senior management team that has consistently delivered in a dynamic and challenging environment."

He added, "I am comfortable with our relationship with DHL, our major shareholder, and I am sure that Malcolm will continue to build on this strong tie and extend our market leadership."

Mr Monteiro said, "Clyde charted the turnaround strategy of the company in 1997 and transformed Blue Dart into a consistently profitable company within two years. I want to build on what has been achieved, and lead Blue Dart to even greater success. I look forward to working with my colleagues to further the interests of the company, our shareholders and the community we serve."
