WelcomeHotel Sheraton Chola in Chennai has been brought under the Fortune umbrella – to better reflect the hotels positioning as mid-segment business class hotel.
Following this initiative, this property, which is the birthplace of the business conglomerate, ITC's hotel division, will henceforth be known as My Fortune.
Commenting on this development, Mr Suresh Kumar, CEO of Fortune Park Hotels Ltd (a wholly owned subsidiary of ITC Hotels), said this is the first hotel to be launched under the new brand, which is the latest addition to the bouquet of brands offered by Fortune Hotels. The property will remain a I-Class full service hotel, and continue to provide the guests “the convenience and comfort of home, as has offered in the past by the erstwhile Sheraton Chola”.
The hotel has 90 rooms, a specialty Indian restaurant serving the flavours of North-West Frontier cuisine, a tea lounge and a bar.
With this inclusion, Fortune Hotels, a mid-market, full-service business hotel chain, now has 40 operational properties (with over 3,000 rooms) and 66 signed alliances spread across 50 cities in India.
Though Fortune, being an ‘asset-light business model', is only a management company from the ITC Hotels division, this will be the second company-owned hotel after the one in Andaman. “However, our intention is to develop properties along with promoters as greenfield projects”.
