A consortium of Soma Infra-CGGC (China) has been chosen for the Indira Sagar Polavaram project tender. It has outbid the L2 consortium of SEW Infra-Patel constructions. Others in fray included Gammon-Chirkey Gesstroy (Russia)-AMR Joint venture, IVRCL-Farab (Iran), Madhucon-Sinohydro (China) and Transstroy (India)-JSC Engineering Center (Russia). The tenders for the project implementation were opened on Friday. The bids will further be scrutinised by a high-powered committee headed by the State Chief Secretary, Ms Minnie Mathew, and experts. Soma Consortium offered a tender price of Rs 4599.99 crore and the SEW consortium Rs 4653.99 crore. These were against the Government’s quote of Rs 4,717 crore.
