Leyland Deere bags order for 20 backhoe loaders from the Tamil Nadu Earth Moving Equipment Owners Welfare Association. The 435-BHL is being manufactured at the company’s new facility at Gummdipoondi near Chennai. The Leyland Deere, a 50:50 joint venture between Ashok Leyland and John Deere, set up this facility at an investment of Rs 160 crore. The facility started its commercial production in November last year, and has so far rolled out 500 units. Each unit costs approximately Rs 24 lakh. The Association has more than 700 members from the construction and earth moving equipment industry and is over two decades old. — Our Bureau
