The Chairman of the TVS Motor Company, Mr Venu Srinivasan, and the foramer ICAI President, Mr T.N. Manoharan, have been conferred with the Padma Shri awards.
The founder of Apollo Hospitals, Dr Prathap Chandra Reddy, and the former Governor of Reserve Bank of India, Dr Yaga Venugopal Reddy, are being conferred with the Padma Vibhushan.
Veteran musician Ilaiyaraaja, actor Aamir Khan, theatre personality Akbar Padamsee and the promoter of Leela Group of hotels, Captain C.P. Krishnan Nair are among those being conferred the Padma Bhushan honour.
Cricketer Virendra Sehwag, boxer Vijender Singh and badminton player Saina Nehwal have been awarded the Padma Shri.
An official statement issued late Monday evening stated that the President had approved 130 awards including 13 in the category of foreigners, NRI and PIOs. In all, six Padma Vibhushan, 43 Padma Bhushan and 81 Padma Shri awards have been given.
The awards will be conferred by the President some time in March or April.
