THE Chairman of Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd, Mr Tejendra Khanna, has urged industry leaders to give up their feudal mindset in dealing with human resources so as to make the enterprises successful.

Addressing a day-long summit at the Indian School of Business (ISB) titled `India Next: A tribute to the achievement of young leaders in India' here on Wednesday, Mr Khanna observed that a number of corporates were still suffering from the feudal mindset or top-down mindset.

Stating that these corporate houses do not feel comfortable when someone lower in the hierarchy speaks up, he said such organisations were bound to collapse.

"Consider yourself as leaders of teams. If you are leading a company with thousands of employees, do not confine yourself to just 30-40 of the top layer of functionaries alone. Consider each employee of the company as adding or diminishing value," Mr Khanna said.

Observing that intellectuals were increasingly shunning politics, he advised the ISB students to take responsible role in the political and policymaking arenas to improve the quality of governance and ensure that the benefits of development reach the common people.

Not impressed by the attractive growth in GDP and FDI alone, Mr Khanna said most of the people still do not have access to quality education and healthcare.

He asked the future industry leaders to play a key role in policy-making and assist the country in improving the productivity of public expenditure.
