German team in Kolkata to explore biz ties

Kolkata, March 3

A 45-member business delegation from Germany led by Mr Walter Hirche, Minister for Economics, Transport & Employment of the State of Lower Saxony of Germany, today came to the city to explore the business potential in West Bengal and to interact with local business units for joint ventures and strategic business alliances covering wide business areas such as IT, engineering, automotive components, tourism, food-processing, logistics, law and management services.

Mr Hirche and some members of the delegation accompanied by the Consul General of Germany in Kolkata, Mr G. Wehrmann, visited the facilities at the Salt Lake IT Park, new township at the Rajarhat and an IT company. Later on the delegation visited the Texmaco factory at Belgharia near the city.

Members of the delegation also interacted with the State's Commerce & Industry Minister, Mr Nirupam Sen, and the Minister for IT and Environment, Mr Manabendra Mukherjee.
