Hyderabad, March 7
The Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, launched the Overseas Manpower Company Andhra Pradesh Ltd, a State-owned placement services company. The company's mandate is to put an end to exploitation of gullible candidates aspiring for overseas jobs. The company was conceptualised last year with a view to ensuring that brokers and fake placement agencies do not exploit jobseekers. Registered candidates, depending on their qualifications and skills, would be provided necessary guidance and support services. Launching the agency late on Monday, the CM described this "as dream come true." At the time of the launch about 63 candidates had registered. It is estimated that annually about three lakh youth go overseas for jobs.
