Thiruvananthapuram, July 13
The state-owned Pharmaceutical Corporation (Indian Medicines) Kerala Ltd (Oushadhi) is setting up a modern factory at Pariyaram in Kannur district.
The State Government has allocated Rs 50 lakh in this year's budget for the proposed factory, according to Mr K.K. Chandran, Managing Director.
He said that a speciality centre for Ayurveda and Yoga being set up at Sasthamangalam in the Capital would start functioning soon.
Mr Chandran said here that the company would commence one-year courses in pharmacy and nursing for training masseurs to cater to the needs of medical tourism. A proposal in this regard had already been forwarded to the Government.
Mr Chandran, who is also the Chief Executive Officer of the Medicinal Plant Board, said that discussions were on with Aralam farm authorities for utilising 100 acres there for the cultivation of medicinal plants. Besides, the board has sanctioned Rs 30 lakh for establishing a medicinal plant semi-processing unit.
