The Tamil Nadu Foodgrains Merchants Association (TFMA) has welcomed the exemption from sales tax on pulses and oil and fixing a threshold limit of Rs 10 lakhs for exemption from registration and payment of tax as part of the introduction of value-added tax in the State from January 1, 2007. It has urged the Government to consider early full exemption from tax for the flour from pulses and avoiding levy of cess again on goods brought into the State.
