BANGALORE: Ms Azmi Zahed, an Indian student of post-graduate studies in the University of Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning in US, has won an international award for designing a community centre for a residential colony in Thiruvananathapuram.

The design, conceived by the team led by Ms Zahed, who is the daughter of Mr M.S. Zahed, CMD of HMT Ltd, and her colleagues Ms Natasha Luthra of Pune and Mr Jason Atkins of Jamestown, was adjudged the best among 230 entries from 11 teams from six continents.

Ms Zahed's team's design for the proposed community Centre in Karimadom in Kerala integrates built forms with landscape to enhance both natural and man-made environments.
