A CENTRE for WTO studies has been set up under the Institute for International Trade here. The centre, according to Dr D.R. Agarwal, Director, of the institute, will provide research and analytical support on a regular basis to undertake studies on identified issues under the organisation such as trade in goods, trade in services and trade in intellectual property rights.

"We will conduct various courses on WTO to help develop systematic understanding of the international trading system as laid down under various WTO agreements," Dr Agarwal said, adding, "there will be courses to help explore new opportunities to be thrown up by WTO".

The courses have been structured as to help people grasp the basic tenets of WTO, its negotiating strategies and the future roadmap to be needed at the State as well as national level, he said.
