MADURAI: The Institute of Entrepreneurship and Career Development (ICED) of Bharathidasan University will impart an intensive orientation programme for the co-ordinators of entrepreneurship development cell (EDC) and student representatives of the 90 affiliated colleges next month, aimed at infusing an entrepreneurial spirit among the students.

According to the Institute Director, Mr K. Parthasarathy, several colleges have started EDCs and the Madurai-based Centre for Entrepreneurship Development, which gets funds from the Centre for funding EDCs in the colleges, has assured to send them to 30 colleges in the first year at the rate of Rs 11,000 per college.

He further said that the ICED, which has come up at a cost of Rs 15 crore, would coordinate the activities of EDCs. It has facilities for conducting conferences and seminars, computer hardware, home appliances and facilities for beauty and fashion training. It would conduct short-term training programmes for the unemployed youth in the villages in addition to campus interviews.
