NEW DELHI: The Government has increased the planned allocation on account of fertiliser subsidy.

The Budget has proposed to allot Rs 16,254 crore for subsidising fertiliser to the farmers for fiscal 2005-06, which is substantially higher compared to Rs 12,662 crore allocated last year.

Simultaneously, in order to boost research and development in the field of agriculture, the Budget has proposed to set up a National Fund for Strategic Agricultural Research and an allocation of Rs 50 crore has been suggested.
