Bangalore, March 30

THE Canadian High Commission has opened nine visa application centres across the country to enable easier access for applicants. The centres will be located in Bangalore, New Delhi, Jalandhar, Chandigarh, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad and Kolkata. The Canadian Government has entered into an arrangement with VS (India) Private Ltd to operate these centres. These centres will also offer applicants facility to opt for a courier service for return delivery of the passports directly to their doorstep.

With the new arrangement, Indian residents applying for all types of temporary visas (students, visitors and workers) will now be able to submit their applications across the counter at the nine centres. The applications will be forwarded daily by courier to the High Commission in Delhi or the Consulate General in Chandigarh for assessment.

For the majority of tourists and business travellers, interviews would continue to be the exception as they are now. An interview, when required, could be conveniently scheduled, said an official release.
