THE Clothing Manufacturers Association of India (CMAI) said it shared the industry concerns on VAT as several of its provisions had not been fully thought through by the Government.

The CMAI, which represents garment manufacturers, retailers and exporters, said it is not against VAT per se, but urged the authorities to review the provisions before implementing it.

In a release, the CMAI said sufficient dialogue and interaction with various trade bodies and representatives should have taken place and sufficient time given to them to study the various provisions of the Act.
