HYDERABAD: Low engineering design cost in India has opened up huge opportunities, said Mr Jag Mohan Kaul, Managing Director of Dresser Rand India.

Delivering the keynote address at the two-day Turbomachinery 2005 on Friday, he said that engineering design cost was just one tenth of the cost in the developed world.

The event is being held at the CII-Sohrabji Green Business Centre at Madhapur.

Mr R S Nanda, Director and COO of Nagarjuna Fertiliser and Chemical Ltd, said that turbo machines in fertiliser and chemical plants consumed 40-50 per cent of energy. Selection of equipment was very critical from the point of view of energy conservation. One per cent improvement will yield savings of Rs 8 crore, a CII-GBC release said.
