Hyderabad, April 16
KEEPING in view the annual general body meeting of Asian Development Bank (ADB) scheduled be held here in May 2006, the Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has decided to amend relevant regulations to pave way for setting up star hotels in the posh localities of Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills.
The relaxation would make way for four-star or higher-grade hotels in the two localities, just a short drive away from the proposed venue for the AGM on the city outskirts.
Briefing the media about the decisions taken by the Cabinet, Mr K. Jana Reddy, Home Minister, said the idea was to create enough quality rooms for the delegates who would turn up for the prestigious meeting.
As many as 3,000 delegates from 70 countries would take part in the AGM.
The Government would relax the 15-metre bar on the height of buildings in the area as it was governed by Jubilee Hills society rules.
"Those who have a minimum space of 5,000 square yards can send in their proposals within six months," he said.
