AGRO Dutch Industries Ltd, producer of integrated mushrooms, is likely to benefit from an unexpected anti-dumping case on canned mushrooms against China in Mexico.
Mexican Mushroom Packers Association (MMPA) recently filed a case for anti-dumping on canned mushrooms from China.
The case has been initiated and the preliminary findings are expected on July 4.
The company stands to benefit as Mexico imports canned mushrooms worth about $15 million every year.
"The company is receiving lot of enquiries from Mexican importers for regular supplies of mushroom last 10 days as it is the only producer with the capacity to meet such a huge demand," Mr Malvinder Singh, Managing Director, ADIL, told Business Line.
The company can handle monthly supply of about 200 containers as against their requirement of 30 containers a month.
"After China, Agro Dutch in India is the only source of supply. Indonesia is also a producer of mushroom but the quantity produced by them is sold to the US, so Mexican buyers have no other option," he said.
The company plans to expand its capacity from current 36,000 tonnes mushrooms to 50,000 tonnes.
