SEVERAL Opposition parties of Orissa will organise a demonstration when the State Government signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Korean steel maker, Pohang Steel Company (Posco), here tomorrow.

Addressing a joint press conference here today, the leaders of the Orissa Gana Parishad, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Communist Party of India and Janata Dal (S) said that they were opposed to the State Government's decision to allow Posco to export iron ore from the State. Posco will take away iron ore to feed its steel plants in China and South Korea, they alleged.

The State Government, however, has clarified that Posco wanted to export iron ore to bring in better quality ore from Brazil for its Orissa project, while importing similar quantity of ore with low alumina content.
