Mumbai, Aug. 3
TO help reconstruct the financial lives of Mumbai's flood affected, several certified financial planners have come together to offer free advice and construct contingency plans for the victims.
Since setting up the help lines, they have received over 100 enquiries ranging from help with insurance claims and aid for replacing school textbooks.
"The majority of enquiries so far have been about claiming insurance. These are from individuals, shop keepers, business men and even an award winning sound recorder whose equipment was destroyed in the flood," said Mr Gaurav Mashruwala, a city-based financial planner. The financial profiles of people who have called in for help are varied. The planners are helping victims assess their investments and put together a contingency plan to tide over difficult times.
They are also assisting the victims in availing themselves of the Rs 5,000-Rs 10,000 loan that is being offered by banks at RBI's behest. This help line assists callers on managing loss of assets, advice on borrowing, raising short-term resources and guidance for faster processing of insurance claims.
