The Minister of State (Independent charge) for Overseas Indian Affairs, Mr Jagdish Tytler, told the Lok Sabha on Wednesday that an estimated 3.7 million Indians are working in the various countries of the Gulf.

There are several reasons for the migration of Indian labourers to foreign countries, he said. These include shortage of manpower in several foreign countries, better salaries and working opportunities for savings abroad, Mr Tytler said in reply to a question by Mr Mohan Singh.
